If you want to make larger clouds you can use bigger balloons and pillow stuffing instead of cotton balls.

These can make great decorations, project items, or even props for a play.

Craft Supplies:

  • Newspaper
  • White Tissue Paper
  • Balloons
  • Cotton balls
  • Glue
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Scissors

Step #1:

Blow up five balloons.

We are making a smaller cloud, but the larger the balloons the larger the cloud.

Step #2:

Mix your paper mache mixture in a bowl – 3 parts glue, 1 part water.

Soak a piece of tissue paper and wrap it around a balloon. Leave a small opening around the knot of the balloon.

Repeat this process for all five balloons. This will make the newspaper stick better and the balloons to stick to each other. Allow them to dry.

Step #3:

Using the same glue mixture, soak pieces of newspaper and cover all five balloons, using pieces of newspaper to hold them to one another.

Allow this to dry.

Step #4:

Once the newspaper is completely dry, pop the balloons and remove them.

Add another layer of white paper. Allow this to dry.

Step #5:

Tear up a bunch of cotton balls. You can use your glue mixture or just plain glue for this last part.

Coat the white paper with glue and place on all your stretched out cotton balls. Do this until the entire surface is covered.

You can add these fun clouds to your Earth Day mobile or just hang them in your room!
