Toilet Paper Roll Squid Crafts

We thought it would be a great idea to think of those ocean creatures when we did this craft.

Let’s recycle some empty toilet paper rolls for this one! Keep two, one for this easy crab craft and octopus paper roll too.

If you are doing a sea or beach theme week for your kids you ought to try some of my ocean craft ideas which covers sea creatures, seashells, boats and lots more.

This ocean paper craft is a great item to create for your desk at home, or for back to school too.

We’ve made three holders, of course you can make more or less too. And we made them sized for markers, pencil crayons and crayons.

How to Make Squid Pencil Holder for Kids

This ocean craft came in handy for us too. Our critters really needed a place for our pencil crayons, markers and crayons!

Craft Supplies:

  • Three empty toilet paper rolls
  • Paint (various colors)
  • Paint brush
  • White paper
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Step #1:

Cut your toilet paper rolls into three sizes. We have left one at its original size and then one a little smaller and the third one even smaller.

Step #2:

Paint each of the toilet paper rolls in a different color. We chose purple, blue and yellow for some very bright squid!

Set them aside and allow to dry completely.

Step #3:

Using a piece of white paper, cut out three sets of eyes. Make each one a little different. Draw the pupils on each with a black marker.

Step #4:

On one end of each of the toilet paper rolls, cut slits about half an inch apart.

Do this on all three. You could also make them longer than we did to make your squids tentacles even longer.

Step #5:

Add a set of the eyes you created to each of the squids.

Step #6

Cut your piece of cardboard into a square. It needs to be large enough to fit your squids.

Wrap it in a white piece of paper. If you want you could use blue to make it like water.

Step #7

Put a bead of glue on each of the tentacles and press it down on the base.

Press and hold for a minute or so to allow the glue to dry a little and your holder to stay in place.

Repeat this until all your squid are on the base.

Get your pens, pencils, crayons, etc and fill it up!

What organization!
