Learn how to make a Capybara puppet in my latest brown bag craft! These cute animals are hugely popular with girls and boys right now!!
Easy Capybara Craft Puppets
Capybara’s always remind me of guinea pigs and they were the most common pets growing up so it’s no shock this lovable rodent is such a hit amongst kids!!
I mean my son actually asked for a Capybara plush with it’s own clothes so that he could dress it up!!
It would come as no surprise then that when I mentioned I was making a Capybara puppet that my son wanted me to make lots to give to his friends as well as keeping a few for himself!
The good news is that the materials used are very affordable and these are very quick to make using my step by step instructions!
Prepare the capybara puppet template patterns and select colored craft papers and a brown paper
bag.
Trace the template patterns on the selected craft papers using a pencil and cut them out using scissors.
Step 2:
Take the head, inner ear and mouth cut-outs. Attach the mouth cut-out slightly below the centre of the head cut-out and attach the inner ear cut-outs to the ear parts of the head cut-out.
Step 3:
Attach the blush cut-outs to the cheek parts of the head cut-out and the eye base cut-outs to the top part of the head cut-out.
Step 4:
Use markers to draw the eyes on the eye bases. Draw the nose and mouth of the capybara with the sharpie as well.
Step 5:
Attach the leg cut-outs along the bottom side of the body base cut-out.
Step 6:
Take the paper bag and flatten its bottom part with any one side. This will be the front side of the
paper bag puppet. Attach the head pattern to the flattened bottom part of the paper bag.
Step 7:
Glue the body pattern to the front side of the paper bag, with the legs facing the open side of the
paper bag.
Step 8:
Attach the upper legs on both sides of the paper bag capybara.
Step 9:
Use scissors to cut off the extra parts of the attached upper legs to complete the craft.
Will you give your capybara puppet a name? Perhaps you might make lots of them and use them for pretend play!
If you were really creative you could make fancy hats and even hair bows for your puppets!
