Candy Cane Ornaments with Beads

Being the Mum of 2 Kindergarten age kids I am always looking for cool crafts for them. This Christmas we made some Candy Cane ornaments with beads and they turned out fab!

Christmas is not all about making Santas or snowmen. There are lots of other craft activities you can do!

Previously we have made lots of Christmas tree decor including my pipe cleaner Christmas ornaments and my Candy Cane reindeer.

Candy Cane Ornaments DIY is a great activity for little kids as young as 3 and old as 7. Plus they look fabulous on your Christmas tree.

It involves threading colored beads on a pipe cleaner. My little boy is always threading cheerios and beads in nursery and he loves it. Great for hand eye coordination!

Below I have a simple craft procedure with a few images if you want to try this at home with your littles.

It is a very quick craft and will keep the kids entertained for 5-10 minutes if you want some time to grab a quick coffee.

Candy Cane Ornaments with Beads

Yield: 1

This easy Candy Cane ornaments with beads is a fun Christmas craft for Kindergarten kids!

Materials

  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Tri- Beads ( I got the pack from Michaels with the red and white in it)- you can also find packs with red, white and green on Amazon

Instructions

First you need to cut the pipe cleaner in half. You can use wire cutters or bend the pipe cleaner back and forth until it breaks. I have also used scissors to cut it in half too.

String the first bead on and wrap some of the pipe cleaner around the bead to secure it.

Threading beads is perfect for exercising young kids fine motor skills.

Continue stringing beads alternating between red and white. This also teaches kids how to make a pattern.

Once all of the beads have been added, wrap some of the remaining pipe cleaner around the last bead to secure! Mum can do this step!

You can follow my craft process to make these DIY candy cane bead ornaments or you can follow your own pattern. Why not make several of them; some all in red, some all in white.

Maybe you might buy some different colors of beads and make rainbow candy canes for your Christmas tree!

The most important thing is to have fun!

Keep up to date with all my easy Christmas crafts this year!
