Easy Origami Frog Instructions for Kids -

One of my favorite animal crafts throughout Spring and Summer is my easy frog origami for kids to make! My origami frog instructions comes with images to help you make your own!

I love taking my kids down to the local river where we look for all sorts of water life including frogs!! They love watching them hop around and are always trying to catch them to keep as a pet!!

I decided we would make our own origami frogs, which don’t hop away when you try to pick them up!

If you follow my site you will know easy origami ideas are one of my most favorite things to do with my children!! Previously we have made an origami boat, which is another great idea for Spring and Summer and an origami fish which is another creature you will find in the water!

Folding paper is very therapeutic for kids and adults alike and if you follow my step by step frog origami instructions you will have your own cute green frog!!

Don’t want origami but love frogs? Then why not make my toilet paper roll frogs or my handprint frog which is great for preschoolers!

Origami Frog Instructions

List of Supplies

Colored craft papers

Scissors

Craft glue

Googly eyes

Step by step frog origami instructions

Step 1:

Select light weight craft paper for the origami frog craft. Measure and cut 2 sheets of paper into size 15cm x 15cm.

Step 2:

Take any one of the square papers and fold it in half, diagonally and unfold.

Step 3:

Now, fold the square paper in half, diagonally, along the other side.

Step 4:

Make a thin (1 cm) fold along the closed side of the diagonally folded paper.

Step 5:

Make another 1 cm fold on the top open corner.

Step 6:

Hold the right-bottom closed side and fold it along the middle crease of the current pattern.

Step 7:

Fold the top corner and align it with the top edge.

Step 8:

Fold in the 2 top corners.

Step 9:

Similarly, fold in the left side of the current pattern.

Step 10:

Fold in the bottom side of the current pattern (1/3 of the current pattern).

Step 11:

Fold in the 2 sides by 1 cm.

Step 12:

Turn the current pattern to the front side. The origami head for the frog is ready.

Step 13:

Take the other square paper and make vertical and horizontal half folds. Unfold both folds.

Step 14:

Fold any 2 open sides along a middle (half) crease.

Step 15:

Hold the right folded side along its open edge and fold out diagonally (from the inner, middle part and spreading 1 cm along the outer side.

Step 16:

Fold the thin top folded out part in half.

Step 17:

Similarly, fold the left side by copying the last 2 steps.

Step 18:

Turn the current pattern to the other side.

Step 19:

Fold the current pattern in half (valley fold).

Step 20:

Make a thin 0.5 cm fold along the closed side.

Step 21:

Fold in the right corner by 1.5 cm.

Step 22:

Fold out 1 cm of the folded corner.

Step 23:

Similarly, fold the left corner.

Step 24:

Make diagonal folds on both sides of the current pattern (top side).

Step 25:

Turn the origami body pattern to the front side.

Step 26:

Glue the origami head to the top side of the origami body pattern to complete the craft. Add some googly eyes, a nose and smile as shown.

What will you do with your frog origami?

You can use them as table decor or for windowsill decorations. Why not use them as puppets or for pretend play?!

Alternatively you can give them to friends as a craft gift.
