Turtle Craft for Kids

Turtles are such fun creatures, and this turtle craft for kids is a great way to make a mini turtle. You can use this craft to decorate your desk, keep as a pet, or add a magnet and put it on the fridge!

Crafting with food can be fun, though some food can also be messy. Be careful what tasty items you decide to use for food crafts.

We chose some walnuts, they are not very messy - but so many ideas you can make!

Another Fun Turtle Craft!

Walnut Turtle

This little turtle craft for kids is great fun, easy to make, and he can be your very own pet turtle without any mess or feeding!

Craft Supplies:

  • Walnut half
  • Paint (green)
  • Paint brush
  • Pipe cleaner (green)
  • Pom Pom (green)
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue

Step #1:

Paint your walnut half with the green paint.

Set it aside to dry. (Apply a second coat if it needs it)

Step #2:

Bend your pipecleaner into a star shape. Make one point of the star a little smaller, this will be his tail.

Set this aside to be glued on the shell once the paint dries.

Step #3:'

Grab your green pom pom. This will be your turtles head.

Glue your two googly eyes onto the pom pom.

Set it aside to be glued on the shell once it is dry.

Step #4:

Check on your shell, once it is dry it is time to start gluing!

Glue the star shape you made onto the bottom. This will be his four legs and tail.

Step #5:

Glue the pom pom head onto the end opposite the pipe cleaner tail.

At this point, if you wish to turn your little turtle into a magnet that's possible too!

Add a strip of magnet on the bottom side of the turtle.

Our turtle craft for kids is ready to show off! He is such a cute little guy, we think we will name this Squirt!
