Bookmarks can bring life to a scary story! They are a great way to keep your place in a story especially if you are reading a long book.

Younger kids like to make these and play with them afterwards. You can use them as puppets and pretend play!

Materials

  • 1. Colored craft papers
  • 2. Craft glue
  • 3. Sharpie
  • 4. Pencil

Instructions

Step 1:

Select white, orange, yellow and gray or black colored craft papers for this craft.

Trace the template patterns on the selected craft papers according to each item’s actual shade.

We’re tracing the ghost patterns on white, candy corn patterns on white,
orange and yellow; and the bat patterns on gray paper. Cut out the traced patterns nicely. Kids can help with the cutting!

Step 2:

Take the candy corn pattern base (white) and attach the yellow cutout along the bottom side of the base.

Step 5:

Apply glue on right and left sides of the patterns and place the arm cutouts on the glued sides.

Step 6:

Remember to attach the arms facing towards each other, inside the base.

Step 7:

Use scissors to trim the extra sides of the arm cutouts and align the outer edges of the arms with the base outlines. Use a sharpie to draw the mouth of the patterns.

Step 8:

Slide a page under the arms of the ghost and candy corn patterns to use them as bookmarks.
