Great plastic egg crafts for preschool will recycle those fake Easter eggs. You can make all sorts of cute little critters. We’ve made a little bug and there’s a sweet little frog we created for our friend Alex at Kindergarten Connections.
These little critters can be used simply as a toy or decoration; or you can fill them with a tiny treat for the kids to find.
It’s a great way to re-use those plastic Easter eggs after the holidays – but still keep the fun! Kids love them! They like to roll them down hills or keep them as a pet.
How to Make a Buggy Egg Treat Holder from Plastic Eggs
All you need for plastic egg crafts for Easter.
Craft Supplies:
- Plastic Eggs (from Easter)
- Pipe cleaners (white)
- Craft Foam (white)
- Googly eyes
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Glue
Age Range:
- 3 years and up (cutting assistance for the younger crafters)
Time to Complete:
- 15-20 minutes
Step #1:
Cut a white pipe cleaner in half. Glue each half on the side of your plastic egg where the hinge is located. Glue one on each side of the hinge.
Step #2:
Bend each side of the pipe cleaners so you have four even legs and your bug can stand up.
Step #3:
Grab your white craft foam. Cut out two equal pieces – the shape is like a tear drop. These will be your bugs wings. Set them aside for a minute
Step #4:
Take your black marker and draw some spots all over your egg.
Step #5:
Glue the wings on the opposite side of the egg from your legs (pipe cleaners).
Step #6
Glue your googly eyes onto the bottom of the egg. This is the large end of the egg. Add a smile with a black marker.
Now our little buggy egg is already for display. If he is going to be a treat holder just open him up and add in a little candy.
