Christmas Tree Drawing for Kids

Christmas trees are everywhere in December. They are probably even more talked about than Santa Claus himself! We all take great pride in decorating our tree.

In our house we also do lots of easy Christmas tree crafts to keep the kids entertained on miserable afternoons. These make pretty decor for our home! We also made a Christmas tree pop up card to send to Grandparents!

Recently I thought it was able time we learned how to draw a Christmas tree easy as we could use this for some crafts and also for coloring in!

I always think drawing is a hard thing to master but when you break it down into easy steps it becomes achievable for anyone.

Previously we have done an easy elephant drawing for kids, a cute hedgehog drawing and how to draw maple leaves

How to Draw a Christmas Tree Easily

Little kids will be able to follow my picture instructions below to help them complete their own Christmas tree drawing.

Older children will be able to follow the written instructions.

Adults may also enjoy doing this easy Christmas drawing.

Step 1:

Prepare your art paper and pencil. Use hb pencil to draw the rough outline. Start by drawing triangle. You can make it any size you wish.

Step 14:

Use a cotton bud/swab or napkin to blend the 2 green shades nicely. I have just done the top part of the Christmas tree in the picture below.

You can see how different it looks from the other parts of the tree when it is blended. Little kids will need help with this part for sure.

Step 15:

Blend all 4 parts nicely.

Step 16:

Add a few strokes of dark green on the light green parts. It is so subtle you would need to look very carefully at the picture to see this. Older kids should be able to complete this step alone.

Step 17:

Now, blend the colors nicely again and then blend the trunk part as well.

Step 18:

Use a 2b pencil to trace the tree outline to give it a neat finishing.

Variations of this Christmas Tree draw easy

You can change this in so many ways! Maybe you might want to draw lots of different ones?

Christmas trees can be silver, black or pink so why not try drawing in a different color.

You could also draw a different Christmas tree topper. How about changing the color of the decorations? You could even draw some candy canes on the tree.

What other Christmas drawings for kids would you like to see? How about a reindeer or Santa Claus? If you want a more difficult Christmas drawing tutorial, I recommend how to draw Santa in a Sleigh
