DIY Witch Hat for Kids
Learn how to make your own simple witch hat from a paper plate!! Paper plate crafts for kids are so much fun and normally require very few materials!
In less than 30 minutes you can turn a white paper plate and some other basic materials into your own scary witches hat!! This is probably one of my easiest and most popular Halloween witch crafts for kids this year!!
My children love crafting and making their own costumes so it seemed a no brainer to make a hat! We also made some cool Halloween masks for them and their friends to wear on Halloween night!
How to Make a Witch Hat From a Paper Plate – DIY Witch Hat Tutorial
My step by step witches hat tutorial will provide instructions and images to help you make your own!!
Encourage little kids to be as creative as possible and maybe even add glitter, sequins, extra paint, stickers or anything else they want to make theirs unique!
Craft Supplies
- Colorful construction papers.
- Large Black Construction Papers.
- Large paper Plate.
- Glue.
- Scissors.
- Pencil.

Step by Step Process
Step 1:
To make the paper plate witch hat craft you need a large piece of paper and a large sheet of black-coloured construction paper.
Place the paper plate on your construction paper and draw around it.
Cut out the circular shape along the outline.
Cut out a quadrant of the circle.
To make things easier you can also use the PDF template.
Step 2:
Join the two ends of the circle to make the cone shape for your witch hat.
Step 3:
Select the paper plate you want to use for your hat’s base.
Step 4:
Cut out the middle part of the paper plate according to the size of your paper cone.
Step 5:
Use black paint to color the paper plate.
Step 6:
Cut out the moons and stars shape to decorate the paper cone.
Step 7:
First, glue the stars on the paper cone.
Step 8:
Then glue the moons to the cone to finish decorating.
Step 9:
Glue the paper cone on the paper plate to finish making your paper plate witch hat craft.
You can attach elastic on two sides of the paper plate to wear the hat nicely.
