Paper Plate Fox Craft

The latest addition to my Fall animal activities is this red fox paper plate craft! Exercising scissor skills and creativity helps you make a adorable red fox which can be used for wall decor or pretend play!

Foxes are a very popular theme for crafts during October and November! Previously I have made a toilet paper roll fox which you may also like to try. 

If you like making fall animals and are perhaps doing this as a classroom activity you might want to follow up with a paper plate squirrel

How to Make Red Fox Paper Plate Craft

You will need the following craft supplies to DIY red fox:-

Step by step instructions with images to guide you follow below

Step 1:

 

Select a paper plate of any size you like. Use a ruler and pencil to trace a line along the middle of

the plate’s backside.

 

Step 2:

 

We will use ¾ of a half part for the body, the rest of the half for the tail. From the other half of

the plate, we’ll trace the head base and the face.

 

 

Step 3:

 

Cut out the traced parts (body, tail, head and face). If you have divided your plate up correctly your pieces should look as below.

 

Step 4:

 

Take the head cut-out and paint it in orange. Allow the paint to dry.

 

Step 5:

 

Attach the face and the inner ear cut-outs to the head cut-out.

 

 

Step 6:

 

Paint the body base in orange too. Paint the feet (paws) with black paint and keep an oval shape

in the middle of the base intact (paint it white if the plate is patterned). Allow the paint to dry.

 

 

Step 7:

 

Keep the tip of the tail intact with a zigzag inner border. Then, paint the rest of the tail in orange.

 

Step 8:

 

Attach the tail to the body base on a side.

 

 

Step 9:

 

Attach the head pattern to the top side of the body base.

 

 

Step 10:

 

Use a black marker to draw the face of the paper plate fox to complete the craft.

 

Why not encourage younger kids to name their fox. You could use this as a literacy activity by asking kids to write a story about their creation using nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs.
