Paper Plate Reindeer Craft

Reindeer crafts are not only extremely cute but they also make great Christmas decorations during December time when we want our homes to look all festive and pretty.

They are also great for decorating school classrooms and corridors. I have lots of ideas for homemade Christmas decorations for kids here on Easy Crafts for Kids.

Paper plates are one of the most popular craft materials, after colored craft papers. Kids all love making my animal paper plates so I expect them to love my reindeer just as much!

This reindeer is made by cutting paper plates into different shapes, adding color and other craft materials. 

You can stick it on your wall, on your fridge or sit it on the mantelpiece. How about adding some string and hanging it on your Christmas tree. 

How to make a Paper Plate Reindeer

Step by step reindeer paper plate instructions

Step 1:

 

Select a clean and white paper plate for the craft. If you use patterned paper plate, you will need to apply a coat of white paint for the base.

 

Step 2:

 

Use a pencil to trace the provided template patterns on the backside of the paper plate.

 

 

Step 3:

 

Use scissors to cut out the traced patterns from the paper plate. If you have traced correctly from the template you should have the following parts. 

 

Step 4:

 

Paint the head and the body cut-out with brown acrylic paint.

 

Step 5:

 

Use the same brown shade to paint the tail and the leg cut-outs. Apply a darker shade of brown acrylic paint on the horn cut-outs.

 

Step 6:

 

Apply pink paint on the inner ear cut-outs, red paint on the nose cut-out and draw the eyes on the

eye base cut-outs.

 

Step 7:

 

Glue the inner ear cut-outs to the ear parts of the head cut-out.

 

Step 8:

 

Glue the eye cut-outs to the wide part of the head and glue the nose cut-out to the pointy tip (on the bottom side of the head).

 

Step 9:

 

Glue the horn cut-outs to the top side of the head.

 

 

Step 10:

 

Glue the leg and the tail cut-outs to the body base cut-out.

 

 

Step 11:

 

Now, glue the head pattern to the pointy end of the body cut-out to complete the craft.
