DIY Scary Masks - Homemade Dracula Mask

I love making Halloween costumes at home with the kids as its so much more fun than actually buying one, plus you get to accessorize it how you like!

Previously we made some easy Halloween masks, that just fit around your eyes and didn't cover your entire face. We also created a homemade Witches hat for those wannabe witches this year.

While fitting in our easy pumpkin carvings we decided to make a cool Dracula mask! I love this as my son has lots of black capes so all he has to do it put on his mask and cape and there's a simple Halloween costume idea.

If your house is anything like ours you will have not one or two but a multitude of dress up days and of course we like to wear something different every time!

How to Make a Dracula Mask - Homemade Halloween Masks Made Simple

This spooky Halloween mask craft is made using my free template and a paper plate. It is so simple to make and should be added to your must do Halloween crafts for 2026

Materials Needed

1. Paper Plates.
2. Scissors.
3. Pencil.
4. Ruler.
5. Paint.
6. Paintbrushes. 
7. String/Elastic.

Step by Step Halloween Paper Plate Craft Process

Step: 1

Select your paper plate to make the vampire mask 

Step: 2

Use the PDF template to trace the vampire mask pattern on your plate using a pencil or marker. 

Step: 3

Use a pair of scissors to neatly cut out the vampire mask pattern according to the outlines.

Step: 4

Now, carefully cut out the holes for the eyes using scissors.

Step: 5

Use black paint or black acrylic paint to color the vampire's hair and eyebrows.  

Step: 6

Then, use red paint to color the bow tie.

Step: 7

Fill the shirt and collar using black paint or any color of your choice. Personally I think black looks best.

Step: 8

Use a beige shade to paint the face of the vampire.  

Step: 9

Use white paint to color the teeth. 

Step: 10

Use a black marker or thin gel-based pen to draw the mouth and nose. Then use the pen to also outline the bow tie, eye holes, and any other part you want to pop out. 

Step: 11

Take white string or elastic. Measure the head size first before cutting a section of the elastic or string. 

Step: 12

Use the scissors or an awl to make holes on the ears of the vampire pattern.

Step: 13

And finally, tie both ends of the strings with the ears to finish making your vampire mask.
