Help keep the learning going in the summer with our bookmark crafts for kids and all our other summer learning crafts.
Although summer is seen as two months free from homework and teachers, it is still important to engage the kids and help them continue to learn.
Reading is a simple way to keep their mind active, while not overloading them with school work.
We've created some fun bookmarks to help make reading look like an exciting summer hobby.
Not only will these monster bookmark crafts for kids show the fun of reading, it will let them unleash their creativity... another very important aspect of a child's development.
This craft is all about creativity and being original. We will show you the basic steps but use whatever supplies you can think of - you don't have to use a feather for hair because we did, use a pom pom or some craft foam.
Let's start with the hair for our monsters. You can use a variety of things for this. Just pick your supply and glue it in place.
We made one monster with a feather for hair, another with a pom pom fro, and a third with long pink string hair.
Now on to the eye balls for your monster. Be random with the sizes (and number).
You can have one eye'd monsters, or four eye'd... it is all up to you!
Glue your eyes just below the hair.
Last step (see such an easy craft!) is to add a mouth to each monster.
We used white paint for their teeth and a black marker for the outlines.
Make some smile, some grinning, or you can make angry and sad monsters... again be creative!
Now, it's time to show off your new monster bookmarks and put them to work.
Get out your favorite book, start reading. When you need a break these little monsters will keep your place.
