Toilet Paper Roll Bee

Kids Be Buzzing About This Toilet Paper Roll Bee

Our toilet paper roll bee is all the buzz! Spring brings with it new life and all the critters that hibernated all winter are out and about.

We’ve turned empty toilet paper rolls into bumblebees!

Bumble bees do sting, if you bug them. But not our little bee!

As spring approaches take a walk outside and look for all the different kind of critters that you see. A good tip is to look near flowers! Sometimes you can hear buzzy bees before you can see them!! They are always hovering near bright yellow pollen!

Instead of just a bumble bee, make other things like butterflies, caterpillars, ladybugs etc.

We are teaching a bumble bee but you can use the same materials and just design it differently to make other spring creatures too!

We can also teach you how to create a fun bumble bee bookmark this spring. This would be a fantastic way to promote reading too!

Please remember if you like recycling I have over 30 Toilet Paper Roll crafts so you can do one every day for a month!!

Instructions

Step #1:

Cut out a strip of yellow construction paper. Make it long enough to wrap around the toilet paper roll. Make the width the same as the roll.

Wrap it around the empty roll and glue it in place.

Step #2:

Cut three strips of black construction paper. Make sure they are long enough to wrap all the way around.

Glue them around your yellow bee body.

Step #3:

Cut out a heart shape with the white paper (you can draw a heart if you want first). Turn it upside down and glue it onto the body. These are the wings of your bumble bee.

Step #4:

Cut a head out of the yellow construction paper. Now, we need some antennae too! Cut these out of black construction paper.

Step #5:

Glue your antennae to the top of your bee's head. Add your googly eyes, and pom pom for a nose.

With a black marker draw on a smile too! Our bee is happy it's spring time.

Step #6

Glue your head onto the body.

BZZZ!!! Happy Spring everyone! Now you have a cute little bumble bee to decorate for the season.
