My cute Mother’s Day pop up card is the best way to show Mum how much you appreciate her! Normally I make flower cards for Mother’s Day but this time I opted for a Mother and baby chicken pop up card.

Cute Pop Up Card for Mothers Day

We all love sending our Moms a cute Mother’s Day card and what better idea than to DIY Mom Card this year. 

We celebrate Mother’s Day on May 14th this year so you still have some time left to make your own card!

This is one of my easy Mother’s Day crafts for kids to make. They can follow my craft process complete with images below.

The end result is an adorable Mother chick with her baby inside. Just one of my cute chick crafts

How to Make a Mother’s Day Pop Up Card That Mom Will Love

You only require a few popular craft supplies to complete this Mothers Day craft

  • Colored craft papers
  • Cardstock paper
  • Pencil – to trace the template
  • A pair of scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Sharpies

Step by Step Mothers Day Pop up Card Directions

Step 1:

Select colored craft papers for the bird and heart patterns and select cardstock paper for the card and the pop socket strips.

Trace the template patterns on the selected craft papers and cut them out nicely. Let’s start with the mother bird craft.

Step 2:

Attach the hair cut-out on the top side of the head part and attach the lens shaped cut-out to the bottom-front part of the bird base cut-out.

Step 3:

Attach the beak cut-out to the front side of the head part and attach the blush cut-out on the cheek.

Step 4:

Attach the leg cut-outs on the bottom side of the base and attach the wing cut-out on the base, below the head part.

Step 5:

Use a sharpie to draw the eyes of the papercraft mother bird and craft the baby bird similarly.

Step 6:

Prepare the card from cardstock paper. You can use a sheet slightly bigger than A4 or prepare a 12 inches x 8 inches. Fold the longer side in half to prepare the card.

Step 7:

Cut out 3 cardstock strips for the pop socket.

Step 8:

Fold the open ends of each strip to a cm and then fold them as per their distance from the card.

Step 9:

Attach the thin side folds of the strips with the card by keeping the card a 90 degree angle.

Step 10:

Attach the bird patterns on the 2 side sockets.

Step 11:

Prepare the heart and the label from colored craft papers of your choice. Write your message on the label.

Step 12:

Attach the label to the heart cut-out.

Step 13: (Final Image)

Attach the heart and label pattern on the middle socket (between the birds) to complete the card.
