Flowers are a great gift, but it sucks when they wilt. Our flower pipe cleaner craft for kids will teach you how to make an everlasting beautiful bouquet of flowers – with two simple ingredients – pipe cleaners and pom poms.
You can add as many flowers as you like to your bouquet. The color choice is yours, the types of flowers are your choice too!
Be creative! One thing is for sure, you don’t have to worry about them wilting away. My Spring flower craft with paper is another great idea for those that love flower crafts!
Just recently I have made a beautiful tulip flower pop up card for Spring
Let me show you how to make flowers with pipe cleaners! I have made both stems and pipe cleaner flower petals! If you love using chenille stems as much as me then you should check out my awesome list of easy pipe cleaner crafts for kids
Flower Pipe Cleaner Craft for Kids: A Bouquet That Does Not Wilt
- Pipe cleaners
- Pom poms
- 5 years and up
Time to Complete:
- 15-20 minutes
Cut a green pipe cleaner in half, each pipe cleaner will make two stems – so repeat this for as many flowers as you wish to make.
Cut another green pipe cleaner in quarters (4 pieces), each pipe cleaner will make four leaves – so again, repeat this for as many flowers as you wish to make.
The smaller pieces of pipe cleaner will be the leaves. Bend each one into a leaf shape. Leave a small tip at the end to wrap around each stem.
Attach one or two leaves to each stem.
Now it’s time to make our flowers. Create a loop with the pipe cleaner, then repeat this 4-5 times for each pipe clear.
When you are at the end just bend the end of the pipe cleaner around the center. You should have a four/five petal flower. You can create any type of flower that you wish and in all sorts of colors.
Repeat step three for each flower you wish to make. We made a bouquet for our pipe cleaner crafts for kids that has four flowers in it, in a variety of colors. These pipe cleaner flower petals look fabulous!
Grab your flower stems. Thread one into the back of each flower and bend it over to hold it in place. Repeat this step for all your flowers.
Once each has a stem you can bundle them together into a bouquet and use another piece of pipe cleaner to hold them together.
On the center of each flower you want to add a pom pom. It is simple, just glue a pom pom (of a different color) to the center of each flower.
There you have it! Your very own everlasting flower bouquet. A great gift for a teacher, family member or friend!I have to say this is one of my favorite easy Mother’s Day crafts for kids!
How about making them all yellow in Spring so that they resemble a bunch of daffodils? You could do red to represent Roses for Valentine’s Day!
These would be much cheaper than the real thing, and they would last longer too. All you Dads out there help the kids make red pipe cleaner flowers right now!
Red and black would work for Christmas or to represent Poppies for Remembrance Sunday. Green and orange could be used for St Patrick’s Day!
I love crafts like this that can be used all year long. Let us face it us Mommies love flowers whatever time of the year!
You could also decorate a white plastic cup and have this as your pretend pot for your pipe cleaner flowers! You could get the kids to decorate the cup too!
