Flamingo Paper Plate Craft

My little girl loves going to see flamingos when we visit the zoo. They are her favorite bird; I think she loves their bright pink color. 

There are around 6 different species of Flamingo around the world. They are different shades of pink and they differ in height. Surprisingly they can live until they are 30 years old. 

This is an easy craft with only a few different materials required; most of which will already be in your home. 

My paper plate flamingo craft procedure will help you make this pair of flamingos which you can move up and down in the water using the attached popsicle stick. It is suitable for kids as young as 5 with Mum’s help of course.

Paper Plate Flamingo Craft for Kids

My Paper plate flamingo craft is a great Summer animal craft for kids this year. Comes with free printable template and craft instructions

Materials

• Cardstock paper.
• Craft papers.
• Paper Plate.
• Pencil.
• Ruler.
• Scissors.
• Glue.
• Marker pens.

Instructions

Step 1:

Use the PDF templates to cut out the pieces to make the Flamingo.

Step 2:

Glue the wings to the flamingo’s body.

Step 3:

Glue the flamingo’s beak to the head. 

Step 4:

Glue the bent leg on the back.

Step 5:

Then glue the straight leg on the front side. 

Step 6:

Draw the flamingo’s eyes using a marker pen.

Step 7:

Make more flamingos in various shades of pink.

Step 8:

Glue a stick on the back of the flamingo.

Step 9:

Use a pair of scissors to cut a slit on the edge of the paper plate.

Step 10:

Glue the backgrounds on the paper plate. Use wavy patterned scissors to cut out the backgrounds according to the size of your paper plate. Opt for various shades of blue (one for sky and one for water.

Step 11:

Place the flamingo inside the paper plate and put the stick through the slit.

Will you give your pair of flamingos a name? I have seen lots of great suggestions online but I personally like the names Candy Floss (as it is also pink) and Crimson. 

You can also use these as puppets for story telling without the paper plate if you like.
